ABOUT ME:
THE LORD OF THE MANOR SURVEYS HIS PATHS
I do not have them all; not Bullock's Cross
Or Little Nunty's splendid figuration,
Or that redeeming way across the brook
To Pattiswick, immersed in contemplation.
Or even those teasing tracks that get entangled
Around Tey Road, for no especial reason,
Or those enmired in soggy slough and mud
Or overgrowth, depending on the season.
No: for my paths are found between the mills,
Around Grange Barn, and down to Cuthedge Lane,
Where Dammet the reluctant novice walked,
And one poor wife was infamously slain.
These are my ways, and will remain with me
Till my sad bones are crushed eternally
